Two Weeks Old Today!

Our little girl is two weeks old today! She is truly a miracle, and we are so grateful for each and every day!

The last few days have been fairly good ones for Riley. She responded very well to a medication to help her underdeveloped lungs. The goal at this point is to continue to reduce the settings on her ventilator and keep her blood gases at a normal level. She’s been up and down over the last week, but we are hopeful that these will stabilize very soon.

When Riley was born, her eyes were still sealed (a baby’s eyes usually don’t open until the 27th week.) Today, we noticed that she was trying hard to open her eyes. This was very exciting!

We want to thank you all again for your continued prayers. The love and support you’ve shown has been such a blessing.

Welcome to the world Miss Riley Kae!
Our family knows the Danz family and they shared with us the special news of Riley's early arrival. We welcomed our Maya at 28 weeks (1 lb. 15oz.) 17 months ago so can somewhat relate to your story. I would never pretend to know what you are going through because every child is so unique, with preemies being extra special in that department. Just try to take it hour by hour, day by day. Even though the NICU experience can make you feel completely overwhelmed, know that you are fully equipped for it because you simply love your sweet baby girl. She knows she is loved and that is sometimes the best medicine.
I can offer you support with some of the knowledge we gained in our 11 weeks in the NICU with Maya. Please don't hesitate to email if you ever have a question, need support or just need to vent to someone who understands.
Bless you and your special family!
Love,
Melissa, Steve, & Maya Armstrong

What a sweet little girl! We are so glad that we can watch her grow through this web site. We look forward to getting to see little Riley in person--but in the meantime we, along with plenty of others, will keep praying for her to just grow and mature into a perfectly healthy happy little infant with no tubes!! Love you Jen and John.
